I am an Associate Professor in Oregon Health and Science University’s Center for Spoken Language Understanding. My research focuses on biomedical applications for speech and language technologies, including natural language processing and information retrieval. I also work in the areas of data ethics and governance.
In addition to my research program, I have an active educational portfolio, covering topics in machine learning and computer science as well as data visualization.
I may have a little bit of a book problem, in that I am running out of room in my office for my work-related books, and have pretty much run out of shelf space at home for other books. When my nose isn’t in a book (and sometimes when it is), I enjoy travel, cooking, and eating, especially in company with family and friends.
